I did the rays of holo with a stamping plate, but you could easily do this with tape.  I really need to bust out the tape and see what I can come up with.  It's been a while!

Notice my sad little thumb is cropped out.  He might not make it into the next few photos.  I filed all of my nails down a bit so he wouldn't feel too shitty, but he's seriously pitiful anyway.  LMAO

I feel pretty accomplished.

I feel pretty accomplished.  Despite the fact that I am exhausted (woo, holidays!), I finished a necklace for one of my best friends.  Might not seem like much, but I made the stone in August of 2014... so it's been over a year that I've been "working on it."  LOL

One of the major hold-ups was the chain - metal bothers her skin, so I had to do something different from my usual for her.  I ended up grabbing several colors of these rubber cord things and she picked the purple / gray one.  I had gray, a blue / gray, and also black, but not surprisingly, she chose the more odd color.  This stone does include a purple / pink shimmery polish in it, but it doesn't show in every light.  The cording is also weird because the purple in it doesn't always show.  I got a few pics in different lighting to try to show that.

All in all I think it kind of oddly works together.  I probably would have put it on the gray or black if it was my choice, but I'm boring and Laurel is not, so that's ok.  As long as she likes it I'm totally happy, too.  😃

So that's one down - I have one more to go!  I'm hoping to finish Emily's in the next few days.  I'm trying to complete what projects I can before school starts back!  😃

I really wanted to do some holiday nails, but tragedy struck when my thumbnail met the doorknob. It broke off down beyond the quick and not only does it hurt - it's ugly, too! Then, while attempting to work on some jewelry I slipped and sliced the same thumb with pliers - right near the cuticle. It is a very sad thumb. I think a band-aid and bed-rest are in order!

I cut loose this weekend.  I drank TWO Vanilla Lime Dr. Pepper's from Sonic, we watched American Ultra (which was awesome), and oh yeah - I did my freakin' nails!  I'm a happy girl!  🙂

I know these are far from the most impressive nails I've ever done, but I REALLY REALLY wanted to use the awesome flaky polish that I bought myself for my birthday.  It's Ferris Wheel by ILNP and it's BEAUTIFUL.  Also, check out the foil stamping polish - it pops over black!  So excited!  *-*

These were meant to be celebratory nails - Woo for finishing a year of college!  I guess they would also work for New Years.  Didn't mean to skip right over Christmas, but I have a few days left yet.  😉

I was a total nerd last night.  But I had so much fun!

I don't know if anyone remembers or cares that I was making a database for Polish All the Things, but I was.  And then life got in the way.  Last night on a whim I picked it up again.  I added a lot more data and linked some tables for the first time.  I am so stupidly excited over this.  😃

I wish I could spend all day working on it some more, but I have other things I gotta do.  Boo for most of it.  😕

I know, I know.  These are not impressive.  They are sad little nubs painted with one hell of a pretty pink holo by LynBDesigns, and stamped with an "Om" (or so Shaun tells me), to remind me to breathe through all of this stress.  I didn't have the time, patience, or brainpower for anything fancier.  But, it's been a real treat having color on my nails again, so maybe I can begin to set aside some time for myself in the coming semester.

P. S.  I know that the bottle of polish I'm holding isn't the one I'm wearing.  I couldn't be bothered to walk to the other room to get it.  But FYI, that beige-y holo is like lingerie for your nails.  I tested it out the other day when I got it.  SO PRETTY.  😳

As much as I really want to do my Algebra tonight...

As much as I really want to do my Algebra tonight I think my brain is too tired.  I think I'm gonna paint my nubs instead.  It's been a while!  I got some pretty new LynBDesigns in the mail today.  She has AMAZING sales.  And she went out of her way to make a bottle of The Credible Hulk for me.  I'm all about that green holo!  But I'm gonna go brighter with my Gypsy Rose this evening.  😃  I can't wait for the rainbows!  😃😃😃

My accent nail was not so easy. Using a stamper I created a decal by painting on the back of the stamped image while it was still on the stamper. They are SUPPOSED to transfer pretty easily to the nail, but my nails are very curved so you can see the distortion near the top at my cuticle. I think I need more practice with this technique! I liked the way it looked so I'll definitely be trying it again. When I can find the time, that is. 😕

P. S. I see that I have an ass-ton of notifications, but I can't jump into that right now. I have SO MUCH HOMEWORK. I'll try to make time later this evening. Thank you to everyone who has written me! ❤

Painted my nails earlier this week.

Painted my nails earlier this week.  It's been MONTHS since I've taken care of them at all so of course they are nubs.  But that's ok!

This paint job was to celebrate spring.  Bugs and flowers and all that.  🙂

I haven't posted anything on my Happy Nails page in ages, but when I went to upload this photo I found that I have over 2000 followers there now.  😳  I am not sure how that happened, but it's SUPER COOL.  Here's hoping I'll have more time now that my schedule has changed to keep up with all this stuff.  🙂

I literally haven't painted anything...

For the first time in what feels like ages - I relaxed.  I didn't do ANY WORK yesterday whatsoever.  Didn't clean the house, mow the lawn, do schoolwork or study; worked no craft shows or festivals...  It was SO NICE and I NEEDED it.

My skin is far from beautiful, but man, it looks and feels a LOT better.  I am so thankful for that.

So what DID I do this weekend?  Friday I played Rock Band because I have missed drumming so bad.  I also danced like a fool because I had the house to myself and I just needed to.  I don't get much in the way of exercise anymore and that is what I used to do for entertainment back before I had the Internet.  I have always felt so much better after dancing myself to exhaustion.  I'm sure a good workout would make me feel the same, but where's the fun in that?  😂

Saturday I sat down and painted some stones.  I think they are mostly pretty - I used these really amazing flakie polishes that I bought myself (on sale!) for making all A's, but there are a few stones I'm not too keen on.  I don't like the bottom 2 pink ones so I may remove the paint - I am not sure yet.  Opinions welcome, but go easy on me. I literally haven't painted anything (not even a fingernail) in months.  🙁

I feel like I've really missed painting things. Leslie's nails last night made me sad that I had naked nubs. She was wearing a really nice color.

Then today so many people liked my stuff that I felt like "Oh yeah. And I'd planned to do this and this and this."

I'm really hoping since my schedule is going to be changing up soon that I will have time to have Happy Nails once again and will be able Polish All the Things again soon. 😃

So I just got home from the Anniston Downtown Market...

So I just got home from the Anniston Downtown Market with my Polish All the Things jewelry.  I gotta say - I'm a big fan of the huge white tent.  Even though I have my own little 10x10 tent it's nice to not have to set it up.

I am so tired today and was tired last night as well - probably thanks to the extra methotrexate I'm taking and stress from finals.  Anyway, I wasn't looking forward to getting up and going if I'm perfectly honest, but I had committed to doing it and so I went.  I'm glad I did.  I like the new set up and location and I also forget in my fog of exhaustion how much I like actually doing shows like this.  Until I get there and then I have fun.  😂

This was the first show I've done by myself - totally alone.  The prospect of that was kind of scary, but it wasn't so bad.  I don't think I could do a full day alone, but I can handle 5 hours, at least.

So all in all it was good.  I made a little over $100 and I've only ever made more than that at OxfordFest, which is supposed to be a HUGE deal.  I'm not sure if it was the fact that I'm not there every week, or if it's that there are fewer jewelry vendors competing all at once, or if it's the new tent and location of the market, or if it's because it's race weekend... I have no idea.  But I'll definitely be more excited when it's my turn to go again.

Anyway.  I'm off to feed the ani-pals.  No one was awake when I got up this morning.  I wonder if Nom has thrown another Tortie Tantrum because his food is so late...  🙂

So I went in Sally's and they have re-done their polish wall and it looks amazing.

The have swatches of all of the polishes and you can hold your finger under there and see how it looks on you (which, btw, I didn't realize until Dara pointed that out). My one complaint, though, is how up high some of the polishes are. I can reach them to see them, but the swatches don't move so I can't see those. I had to get Shaun to pick me up so I could see! 😂 Thank goodness he's so big and strong! 😃

Ok nerds, (as you are probably the only ones who will feel my excitement), check it out!  This is my polish list table.

Ok, so I have column for the polish brand, one for the name, one for the quantity (because there are some that I have duplicates and back-ups of), that little paperclip column holds photos (PHOTOS!!!), the color column is for a brief description of the color, and then my favorite column, the polish type.  There are so many different finishes out these days and they all do something different so I figured it would be good to know at a glance that information.  See that list of polish types?  I made that list and I can add new types as they come out. 😃😃😃

BEST OF ALL - I can sort by any of this information so then I will know what all blues I have, or what all crackles I have, or whatever.  Since I keep them all stored by brand, I will always know where to find them.  HOW FREAKING EXCITING IS THAT?

So, it's not even done.  I have most of my polish brands / names / quantities in, but I haven't even started on color descriptions or photos.  I think that can wait.  I still need to finish the rest of my other tables and then link them together to actually make a working system, but this is my start.  Pretty cool, right?  RIGHT?!  😃

Internet - if I'm not around...

Internet - if I'm not around it's because I'm busy being a super nerd.  So I have all of my Polish All the Things data in Excel because duh - it had to be in something.  But now I've got Access and HOLY WOW - I am having the BEST time trying to get everything set up in that.  I want it to run like Peachtree or Quickbooks when I'm done so it's a BIG project.  It's gonna take me weeks, if not months, of working on it in my precious little spare time, but that's ok.  We haven't even started on Access in school yet, but I got excited and jumped the gun so whatever.  😛

I think that Database Developer or something along those lines is really gonna end up being my calling.  I'M GONNA BE ABLE TO MAKE FORMS, Y'ALL.  AND REPORTS.  AND ORGANIZE MY DATA ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT WAYS.  You don't even know how excited that makes me.  😁😁😁  It's pretty much all I've been thinking about the past few days.

Anyway, I'm off to work on it some more.  My goal for tonight is to get my Polish Table all finished.  Woohoo!  ❤

I haven't really had time to make stuff lately, but these are two custom necklaces I made fairly recently.  One is from Dr. Who and one is from the Legend of Zelda.  Shadow chose an image off of the internet to use on the Zelda one as a gift for a friend.  The Dr. Who was a collaborative group effort and I promised the owner of this one that it would be One of a Kind.

If you have photos or graphics that you would want to wear in a necklace, ring, or keychain I am up for doing that.  I can't really sell this kind of stuff commercially on my Etsy since it's all copyrighted, but I'll do it for friends.  I usually sell necklaces for $20, keychains for $10, and with the rings it depends on the size and setting.

I am not necessarily over here trying to scrounge up business because with school and work I'm busy enough, but if you want something, I'm happy to make it as long as I can have a week or so to work on it.  You can ask Shaun - I'm a perfectionist so I will do the same thing over literally 20 times and pick the best one to sell you.  (I promise it's not a waste - as long as I don't set the stones I can acetone the images off and use the glass again.)

So sad that I've worn the some paint job for a week now.  I hope I get to paint them again this weekend because this is chipping all off and driving me nuts, but I have an Algebra test to study for so we'll see.  🙂

I didn't really talk about this much when talking about my psoriasis / arthritis, but I very nearly lost my thumbnail (psoriasis will jack you ALL up).  🙁  That is why it's shaped kind of weird (it's almost grown back to normal - yay!), and also one major reason I stopped painting for a while.  I'm not usually easily embarrassed, but that one got me for some reason.  I am not super sure why.

I also noticed that when I tried to do my "look at all my nails" claw my hands don't want to do that anymore.  Most particularly my thumb.  I hate to admit that I hurt it trying to get it to do that... so maybe I'll be doing photos with bottles now.  Or gerbils.  Or lizards.  Hell, I don't know.  What I do know is that despite my arthritis pills my hands have been really sore and I should probably make time in my schedule (somehow!) to get back to the doctor.

Anyway.  I'm going to try to do my nails at least once a week.  It makes me happy and I should take some time out for just me.  You know - to keep sane while I'm doing all of this other stuff.  ❤
