Hello, and welcome to Polish ALL the Things!
My name is Blu. I have been a member of the nail polish/nail art community since 2011. Nail polish is one of the things I collect; I also have quite a large number of stamping plates, as well as tools and embellishments, etc. Doing nails or making jewelry from polish is my creative outlet. I do have couple of other hobbies (caring for succulents, roller skating) and a decent collection of writing utensils. I found out at 43 that I am neurodivergent, so I guess the collections and deep interests track. 😊

A little more personal: I have adult two kids - one bio, one adopted. I have a wonderfully supportive husband named Shaun. He loves to have his nails done, and has his own mini-stash of polish, as well. We're an animal-loving family, so you'll probably see references to creatures throughout this blog, though I try not to distort the focus here too much.
There will be some years with fewer posts than others; unfortunately, life gets in the way of my fun pretty often. From 2015-2020, I was either working and in college, or in college full-time; after that, we spent some time moving states and getting settled. I have a double major in Math and Computer Science. I've kind of always been into organizing things, so you'll see references to a database/app idea mentioned throughout the blog, as well. Despite graduating with degrees, I didn't feel quite equipped to build a nail polish collection manager yet, but after being laid off in 2025, I attended a web development class that gave me a lot of hands-on experience with building things on the web, and finally - at long last - app.polishallthethings.com was born!
I launched it as a Progressive Web App in February of 2026. I built something that I would personally want to use. A lot of feedback suggested that people would be interested in using it on iPhone and Android, so I studied some more, started the conversion, and now we're in Beta on the app stores. I've gotten some really good feedback, so I'm going to tackle that, and then I guess we're up and running!
To be honest, I don't really know where this goes from here. I still love to do nail art, but feel that I rarely have the time. I want to sell press-ons, but haven't quite gotten there yet. I can make custom nails, custom jewelry, custom vinyls, and custom waterslide decals. With over 5000 polishes and 1400+ stamping plates, I feel limited only by time. Having gotten this project soft-launched feels pretty nice, though, so maybe it'll free up some of my brain-space. We shall see.
For now, the blog side is a work in progress, (I am moving my polish posts here from my personal ramblings), and I am planning to keep the app up and running. Other than that, I guess I will paint whatever I can as time allows. Let me know if there's anything you'd like for me to make you!
